Mr. Villanueva is beginning his 11th year at Travis Intermediate and his 11th year in education.

Upon graduating in 2000 from Randall High School in Amarillo, Texas, Mr. Villanueva went on to receive his bachelors in music from West Texas A&M University.  While there, Mr. Villanueva was active in the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, Chorale, and Trombone Choir.  While studying for his music degree at West Texas A&M University, Mr. Villanueva studied trombone with Dr. Joseph Cox.  After graduating in December of 2004, Mr. Villanueva worked in Amarillo ISD as a Kindergarten parraprofessional until he was hired to work at Travis Intermediate in the summer of 2005.

While at Travis, Mr. Villanueva has taught Beginning Brass, Beginning Woodwinds, and Beginning Percussion.  This year, Mr Villanueva will be teaching 5th grade Brass and 6th Grade Brass and Percussion.  Several of the Travis Band students participate in the CISD 6th grade Solo and Ensemble Contest as well as the CISD 6th grade Honor Band try-outs.

When not at school, Mr. Villanueva enjoys going to the gym, watching TV, reading, cooking, and playing video games.  When not at school, Mr. Villanueva spends his time with his wife, his daughter, and his two dogs and soon to be second child at the end of September.  If Mr. Villanueva ever won the lottery, he would like to go back school to persue his hobby in the culinary arts.
